In a comprehensive article examining in considerable detail the accuracy and fitness for purpose of the GHCN dataset, EM Smith roundly hits out at underhand and unscientific data manipulation and presentation techniques to distort temperature readings.
He clearly demonstrates just why the reduction in sensing stations (aka the great thermometer dying) has radically affected the dataset and biased the global temperature record towards a warming trend.
Once more, the manipulation of the temperature records appears to be a deliberate attempt to exaggerate a warming trend that is, in reality, much smaller than reported, if indeed a trend exists at all.
